Natural Resources In Australia
Australia has many natural resources that drive Australia economically. Australia is the biggest importer in coal and iron ore. It is very important in the Australian steel industry. New South Wales is the leading coal producing state in Australia. The land down under has the largest deposit of iron ore in the southern hemisphere. It exports very large quantities of iron to Japan, the US, China and the Uk.
There are over 500 different of eucalyptus trees in Australia. Eucalyptus trees (Also called gum trees) are a big part of Australias resources. Its timber is strong and is good for furnisher and construction. tanning oil is obtained from its bark and is used as varnish.
Australia is also a very agricultural country. Australia most important crop is wheat. Wheat makes up for 50% of Australia's crops. Australia is one of the largest producers and exporters of wheat in the world. Rice and sugar cane is also grown in Australia. Apples, pears, citrus and other fruit is also produced in south east region where there is Mediterranean type climate. Other crops that are grown in Australia potato, oats, barley and maize.
Cattle is the second largest industry in Australia. Around two thirds of the cattle grown are used for meat while the other are used for dairy. Around 7% of all Australian cattle is in Queensland. Australia is the largest exporter of beef in the world. Refrigerated boats ship the beef to countries all around the world.
